Lost friends and relatives - Find a lost friend or relative

To find friends or family you have lost contact with, try one of these methods:

Call directory enquiries and ask for your friend's number in the city where you think your friend might be living. If there is a long list of subscribers by that name, call all of the numbers and explain that you're looking for the John Smith who grew up in, say, Manchester in the 1950s and attended Kelvin High School. Most people will help.

Phone directories, or electoral rolls, both of which are available in libraries, may help you find a lost friend.

College or university administrations will forward a letter to a former student.

Professional bodies, such as the British Medical Association. keep directories of all people currently in practice. Trade unions keep registers, too. If you know your friend's trade, call the union's headquarters.

Contact the Salvation Army's family tracing service.

If you go to 192.com you can type in any name and they will give you the address and telephone number.   Or you can go to ancestry.co.uk many people have online family trees on there and you may find your relative.   Or try British birth certificates in the search engine.

Please also try LookupUK.com and search.mylife.com has a free people search in the US along with onlinepublicrecordssearch.com

Hope you find your relatives.

Good Luck

Searching for Kenneth Svendsen who would be 65 -70 years old at a guess...had connections in the 60's to Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire and Denmark. Not sure if he is still alive, but would like to get in touch with him, any of his children or any other relatives. He is my father. He had a relationship with my mother Sara Nicholls from Walsall and I have 3 letters that he wrote to her which remained unanswered. He knew she was pregnant, but I guess he assumed she didn't go through with it, she did. I don't wish to cause any upset to anyone, and I understand if any potential relatives are reticent to get in touch, but it would be nice to piece together the jigsaw puzzle that has remained unfinished for 44 years. I have two daughters aged 13 and 14 who are pretty special, and I would like them to know a little bit about that side of the family. I have no axe to grind, just a curiosity to satisfy, as my life is very fulfilling and happy as it is. [email protected] if you have info

My dad is now 67, but found out about a year ago his college girlfriend had a child. So that would make my half brother or sister about 48-51Ish. My father went to school around cirencester, England. My fathers name is roger, had a sister called wendy, who knew the girl (but won't tell us anything before our dad- who also won't). Our family is massive but me and my siblings (who are
