Fabric care of Braid

Braid trimmings should not be washed. If you want to wash the garment they are on, then first remove the trimmings. Silver braid can be cleaned with dry bicarbonate of soda. Make sure that the powder gets well into all the crevices. It will take some time to absorb the dirt so leave on for as long as possible. Take off again with a stiff brush, or an old toothbrush, To clean gold braid, use a mix of dry cream of tartar and stale breadcrumbs. Leave on as before, then remove with a stiff brush,
