Fabric care of Taffeta

Submitted by Peter

This is traditionally made from silk but now more often produced in synthetic fabrics. If the taffeta is made from silk then send it to be dry-cleaned, or treat according to the label. Most man-made taffeta can be washed but must be handled gently. Use a mild detergent and warm water, squeezing the soap through the material. Use a cold water rinse and hang up to drip-dry. Iron while still damp on the wrong side.
