Shoe and belt (or other leather) stretcher

Submitted by Mark Leeper

If you have leather shoes that are too tight or a leather belt that is a little too short you can easily stretch the leather. Soak the item in inexpensive isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol for thirty seconds or so. Then put the item on and wear it for an hour.

The alcohol makes the leather a little elastic and when it evaporates, which it does quickly being alcohol, the leather remains stretched. Loafer shoes that were uncomfortable and too small to put on without a shoehorn are comfortable and no longer need a shoehorn. A belt that I had (uh) outgrown fits again.
