Poison Ivy, oak, sumac or prickly heat rashes get some relief

Soothe the itchy skin of poison ivy, oak or sumac or prickly heat in a comforting Baking Soda (Bicarbonate of Soda) bath. Add 1/2 cup of Baking Soda to a bath of water or make a paste( 3 parts Baking Soda to 1 part water) for more localized rashes and irritations.

Works great Comments By: George on 2004-07-15
I can vouch for this tip 100%. I had an unknown rash on my arm. It was about 4 inches across. It came on after working in the garden. It was awful.

I had it for a few days and then I remembered the baking soda. I made a paste up and spread it on the rash. Within a minute the itching had gone.

Within a day it had dried up and after a few days it was gone. The best thing was that the baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) took away the discomfort.

My fiance' had a terrible case of poison ivy, he tried ever over the counter remedy, until I found this tip. Within a minute he found great relief, and was able to stay sane until he could get steroids the next day from the doctor. Baking soda really works.
