Fresh Egg? Tips for storing and buying eggs

It can always be a worry wondering which eggs you bought, when you bought them and how fresh are they now. Well here are a few tips that could help you tackle the problem once and for all.

  • If you buy white eggs one week and then brown the next week, you will always know which eggs are the freshest!

  • To determine whether an egg is fresh, put it in a pan of cool that you have added a bit of salt to. If the egg sinks, it is fresh, if it rises to the surface, throw it away.

  • When eggs are stored in one basket, pencil-mark the older ones as a reminder to use them first so you always have fresh eggs on hand.

  • To keep eggs as fresh as possible, always store them with the pointed end down in the box, in the fridge, and use before the best-before date on the shell or egg box.
