Have your clothespegs ( clothes pins ) gone missing? Try clip-on earrings, tie clips, hair clips, paper clips or the pocket clasps of pens. (To avoid rust, put wax paper, plastic or cloth under metal clips.
If you need a clothespeg bag, use an empty hanging plant pot. Its drainage holes will keep rain from collecting and waterlogging the clothespegs. An onion or potato bag - the mesh kind - will do the same.
To keep your hands warm on a winter day while you're hanging out the laundry, put a hot-water bottle in the clothes basket and squeeze it occasionally. Or wear cotton-lined rubber gloves.
Hang shirts and trousers from the bottom hem to avoid visible peg marks when you wear them.
