Prepare a customised for each interview, tailoring your stated objectives to suit the job. (It's easier to customise a CV if it's on a computer.)
Create two basic CV's- a chronological one, if you're working through agencies, and a functional one, organised around your skills and experience, if you've had a number of jobs or are returning to work after several years.
Preparation
Choose four or five highlights from current and past jobs that show your accomplishments and work style. Create a success story for each one to help answer such questions as 'What are your major accomplishments?' or 'What is your relevant experience?'
Rehearse the interview with a friend or family member. Anticipate likely questions and practise telling your success stories without rambling. Ask for feedback.
Give yourself an extra hour or so to dress and get to the interview. If your hands tend to be clammy, use antiperspirant on your palms.
The interview
Look the interviewer directly in the eye and follow her lead in shaking hands.
Remember that you are making a choice as much as she is. Ask any questions necessary to decide if this is a job you really want.
