This Waterford decanter sells for over $800 dollars so I was very worried about it breaking or cracking as crystal should never be exposed to either hot or cold extremes. I put a wet terry dish cloth in the freezer for 5 minutes and another one in the microwave for less than a minute. I first put the cold cloth around the stopper then carefully wrapped the warm one around the neck. Wearing playtex gloves for a good grip, I grasped both cloths and with a twisting motion I simply removed the decanter top. It practically popped out! It was SO simple. That top has been stuck for over ten years! Many, many family and friends have tried to open it. I can hardly wait to show them!
