Garbage disposal - Smells coming from your garbage disposal

The smell may be from the garbage disposal. Use a soapy bottle brush and vigorously swab the inside of the garbage disposal, especially the under side of the rubber flanges. Put a wash cloth over the drain so you don't spatter yourself with the gross gunk you'll loosen. Rinse the gunk out of the brush thoroughly with hot water and immerse the brush in a container of 3% bleach solution (3/4 tsp bleach in 1/2 gallon water) for 1 minute. Pour the bleach solution into the disposal and swab the disposal again (don't forget that washcloth cover). Rinse the brush again in hot running water, then soak it in fresh bleach solution for 1 minute to sanitize it, pour the bleach solution down the drain, and rinse the brush.

The 3% bleach solution is a good sanitizer for bleach-safe surfaces. I use a wet, not dripping, washcloth of the solution, wipe the surface, let it sit for 30-60 seconds, then rinse with clear water.

Old fashioned and messy

This is effective but there are other easier ways
a try of ice cubes and a piece of lemon, orange or lime rind smells nice and knocks the gunk off better than anything else, no rind, throw in a little baking soda
