If you're in a hurry to remove a grease stain, apply shampoo to the stained fabric, then rinse and blow dry.
Absorb the grease from a fresh stain with cornflour or talcum powder. Leave on the spot for up to 12 hours, brush off, then wash the fabric.
To remove grease stains from washable fabrics, wash in a detergent solution as hot as the fabric will bear. Use a commercial stain remover on carpets or on stubborn stains.
Get rid of grease stains on white shoes with nail polish remover. (Be careful not to remove the shoe's finish.) For other colours, use a commercial shoe stain remover.
Wash car oil from hands with laundry detergent and water. Swarfega Hand Cleanser works too, and can be rubbed into heavy grease marks on fabrics before washing. Rub away grease and tar on hands with cooking oil.
To remove greasy heel marks from vinyl or linoleum floors, try silver polish or furniture wax.
