Grills - Tips and hints for your grill

To speed cooking, line a grill pan with heavy aluminium foil to reflect heat upwards. The foil also makes the cleaning easier.

A wire cake rack can be used to replace a light camping grill. And oven shelves can also support pots over a campfire.

Use an old Boy Scout trick to make a 'tennis racket' grill. Find a green forked stick and wire the ends of the fork together (or use long shavings from green wood). Use short green sticks to lace the meat into this circle before holding it over the campfire. If the meat is going to take a while to cook, use a pile of stones to prop the grill over the campfire.

To prevent meat from sticking to grill racks brush them with oil.
