If you don't have a hacksaw and need to cut a thin piece of metal, use the edge of a file or wood rasp to make a groove, then bend the metal back and forth until it breaks.
Grind through hard metal with an abrasive wheel in your electric drill. Caution Make sure you wear eye protection and gloves.
