Icy paths - Tips for a ice bound path

Use sand, sifted ashes or cat litter to improve a slippery surface.

Spread rock salt before snow or sleet falls; this helps to keep ice from bonding to a concrete surface.

Keep a path relatively dry and ice-free by digging shallow trenches along both sides. They'll trap rainwater and melting snow.

On an icy walk, tilt your body slightly forward and set your feet down flat. Short steps also improve stability. If you fall, don't tense up; go limp and try to roll as you land.

Cat litter!!
