Are you fed up with your job? Perhaps overwork, stress or just plain boredom are making you think of moving on. An alternative to going through the trouble of finding, applying for and getting a better job is to develop the one you have.

Redefine your job. Write up a realistic job description and discuss it with your boss, stressing that you want to adjust your duties so that you can be more productive.

Develop and sell a new project. Write a memo to your boss explaining why your idea is worthwhile, what kind of help you would need and how long it would take. Even if the project doesn't work out, you'll have done something different, and you'll probably be remembered for your earnest attempts.

Develop a life outside work take up a hobby or do volunteer work. If necessary, take some time off to gain a new perspective on your situation.

If you're still frustrated, perhaps it's time to find a better setting for your skills or make a career change
