Knives - Tips to do with a knife

To keep knives sharp, always use a wood or polypropylene chopping board. Never use knives to cut string or paper, and keep them in a knife block or magnetic knife rack.

If you don't have a knife sharpener, the unglazed bottom of a mug will do. Hold the knife blade at a low angle and draw it backwards and forwards across the unglazed surface to sharpen the length of the blade.
