Liability - Tips for if something should go wrong

Try to find an umbrella insurance policy that gives you additional coverage if an accident occurs on your property.

Inspect your property regularly for hazards such as broken railings or deeply cracked paving stones. Fix them as soon as you can; meanwhile, do your best to warn others of the danger.

If you have an 'attractive nuisance', such as a swimming pool, put up warning signs and a fence and secure it with a locked gate.

In winter, clear ice and snow from pavements and driveways as soon as possible. If YOU have guests, warn them that the paths may be slippery.

Keep family pets inside or within a fenced-in area.

If, despite your efforts, a guest has too much to drink, call a taxi or make him stay until he sobers up.
