I have been getting cold sores since I don't even know. I always hated them they put down my self esteem. I was always afraid that I wouldn't find a guy that would accept me with them. So I have tried using pills and creams to make them disappear but they never really worked.

So I tried using hand sanatizer. It dries the cold sore right up. I usually pop the blister before applying it so that it can really get into the sore. I do this a tleast 3 times a day till it heals.

I have suffered from cold sores since I was a small child. I have heard lots of home remedies and tried many medications but nothing seemed to work for me until I came across something on the internet. My sore was so bad, my entire left side of my lips were too swollen for me to even eat. Every time I opened my mouth or smiled it cracked open and bled. It had become a giant black scab. I had a big event in a day and a half and was DESPERATE to get rid of it. I iced it until the entire ice cube was melted, then I mixed up a paste of vitamin C powder (like EmergenC or a vitamin C tablet crushed up) and maximum strength non-acetone nail polish remover along with a lot of salt. I put the paste on my sore with a q-tip and let it sit until the stinging and tingling stopped (10-15 minutes) then I rinsed it off and iced it again.

You can repeat this as many times as necessary but I only did it twice, one right after the other. And within a half-hour it was almost un-noticable!!! This sounds too good to be true but for someone like myself who has suffered for 20 years, it was literally a miracle! I really hope this remedy can help others as much as it has myself.

Cold sores are caused by the herpes virus. You can us a Rx medication (anti-viral such as acyclovir or a more current extended release version) perscribed by your doctor at the time you feel a slight ichy/heat at the site the cold sore will form. If you do this, the sore will likely never form. The medication must be used for a while after the sensation is gone or it will return. I have found that touching or popping the sore makes it worse. The hand sanitizer is alcohol which will stop additional bacteria from setting in but it will not help the cold sore. Hope this helps someone.
