Ward off mosquitoes and midges

Check such innocent breeding places as flower vases and birdbaths.

If you're camping in a mosquito-infested area, you may want to invest in a midge net hat and mitts, available at camping and outdoor supply shops. They are made from fine cotton mesh treated with an insect repellent.

Mosquito repellent applied to exposed skin should be renewed every two hours.

Slow-burning mosquito coils, which release insecticidal vapour as they burn, are effective in confined spaces such as a room, tent or caravan.

Burn some dry cattle or sheep dung on a fire. This keeps midges and mosquitoes away.

Dose yourself with Vitamin B, as found in brewer's yeast. This makes your skin exude a scent which insects don't like.

Vitamin B repels?

We live in the Caribbean where we have LOTS of mosquitoes. However, sometimes we sit outside and I will get bitten but my husband not and we have been trying to work out why....

He loves MARMITE - yeast extract - Vit B... maybe that is the answer...

Will now test the theory and report back!
