Are you worried you may eat or drink too much at a party? Here are some survival strategies:
Never go to a party hungry. Eat a light, carbohydrate-rich snack such as salad and pasta or a sandwich made with whole-grain bread beforehand so that you won't be tempted to overeat while you are out.
At a buffet, put only one course on your plate at a time, beginning with the salad. You may be full before the dessert is served.
Eat slowly, putting your fork down between each small mouthful.
If you are offered a drink, ask for just a little alcohol in a tall glass of water or fruit juice; find out if there is alcohol-free beer or wine, or drink soda water with a twist of lemon.
When your alcoholic drink is half finished, top up the glass with ice.
