Peroxide & Sodium Bicarbonate for dental hygiene and whitening

Submitted by Anon

Sodium bicarbonate (aka baking soda) is excellent for a myriad of things including dental hygiene.  When you add the peroxide to it, you will find it becomes a whitening agent also.

For daily brushing: 1. wash hands.  2. pour a small amount of baking soda (about the size of a quarter) in one clean hand (I pour it in the left hand and brush with my right). 3. after running water over the toothbrush, tip it in the baking soda in your palms and brush.  You can keep tipping your brush into the baking powder until it's all gone.

For dental hygiene rinse: Mix 1 tbs baking soda with 2 tbs water. Swish the mixture in your mouth for 60 seconds and spit and rinse.

For whitening:  make a paste of baking soda and 3% peroxide.  There are many ways to do this.  For me, the easiest way is to pour a tbs of peroxide into a small cup/dish. Then add baking soda until it forms a paste. Use toothbrush to mix and then brush your teeth with this paste. If you need a minty flavor, put a small amount of toothpaste into the mixture.
