A pill that sticks in your throat may be caught in the tiny fleshy pocket between the upper throat and the larynx. To prevent this from happening, drink a full glass of water each time you have to take a pill.
Coat pills with butter or margarine to help them slip down. Or if your doctor approves, crush them and mix them into yoghurt, custard or ice cream.
If your child is having difficulty swallowing a pill, coat it with a bit of banana or hide it in a bite-size piece of fruit. Or have her eat a few bites of banana immediately after taking the pill.
