Plunger - Clearing blockages without a plunger

If you can't find your plunger, try one of these remedies to unclog your sink:

Bail the water out, then pour lots of boiling water down the drain.

Put a bucket under the U-bend and remove the screw-on plug at the bottom of the bend. Poke a piece of flexible wire down the sink and wiggle it around to loosen the blockage. Then shove a hose down the drain as far as it will go, attach it to a mains tap and turn the water on full blast for just a second or two. Bail out the sink if it fills up with water and repeat.

Block the overflow hole with a rag, then cup your palm over the clogged drain and create suction by arching and flattening your palm up and down until the sink clears.
