Rakes - Hints and tips about rakes

Avoid painful accidents when working with a rake - always rest it against a support, with the head up, even if you will be using it again in a few minutes.

A little wire mesh or chicken wire over the head of a garden rake keeps stones from bouncing over the top. Push the rake tines through the wire or mesh and pull it back over the head. Tack or staple it about 12in/300mm up the handle.
