Reaching things in out of the way places

Extend your reach with a pair of barbecue tongs if you can't reach something.

Push and pull objects out of tight spots with a bamboo cane, radiator brush or straightened wire coat hanger. To pick up light items, wrap sticky tape around the end, sticky side out.

If a match won't reach the wick in a hurricane lamp, light a taper.

Tongs

I think the tong advice is right on target. I have a pair of metal salad tongs in my kitchen, one in the office (for picking up gem clips, pens, etc), in the laundry room for getting the clothes out of my top-loading deep tub, and in my car (for reaching into the mailbox). I even have a pair that I use at the pool filter to pull the filter basket up. I get them for a dollar at the dollar store.
