When looking for a temporary place to hide cash, jewellery, or other small valuables, avoid the obvious.
Put them in a frozen vegetable bag in the freezer or in a cream carton or the cavity of a green pepper in the refrigerator. (Avoid the foods thieves are likely to sample, such as ice cream or fruit.)
Wrap them in plastic and store in a vacuum cleaner bag.
Buy a dummy wall plug socket, which has a drawer, and fit it into the wall or skirting board at ground level.
Keep important papers in detergent boxes stored under the sink or in the laundry room.
