To get more blooms for your money and to have greater flexibility in your arrangements, buy stems with more than one flower. Cut off the blossoms and make a stem for each by twisting wire onto the cut end and covering it with florist's green tape.
To clean, dust each blossom with a soft brush, or use the low setting on your hair dryer, or wipe with a damp cloth.
For a more thorough cleaning, disassemble the arrangement and swish each flower in warm water and mild detergent. Rinse well and stand in tall vases or jars to dry. Or have the flowers dry-cleaned.
To give your flowers a simulated fragrance, hide a perfume sample card in the arrangement.
