These silvery insects may be found when you remove a book from a bookshelf or shift a pile of papers. They live on the starch in paper and the glue in bookbindings. Their presence may also indicate damp in your house.
Reduce the condensation, if any, in the room; if there is condensation it will damage the books. Check for rising damp and leaky plumbing.
Remove books from shelves and spray the shelves with an insecticide for crawling insects. Then flick through the pages to check for infestation and to air the books thoroughly.
