If you ship books through the mail, wrapping them in brown paper bags that you get from the grocery store is much more protection than an envelope, and what else do we do with those brown bags anyways!
I also use the bubble wrap that most things are packed in these days.
This really does protect the book edges and is brilliant for packaging breakables, too.
