To prevent shaving bumps

Submitted by Karen Alexandre

Before you shave, wet your face with hot water. As hot as you can tolerate it. Shaving bumps are caused by shaving over the skin pores when they are closed. Hot water or steam opens the pores.

African-American men need to shave every other day to prevent ingrown hair and promote clear skin. Ingrown hair is caused by hair that grows out and curl back into the skin which causes a bump and puss. burst the bump and remove the hair with tweezers.

Use After shave to close the pores after shaving and use pure cocoa butter and shea butter mix with vitamin E oil.

The 'Bump Fighter' shaver has helped clear up my face after shaving and I would highly recommended it. The shave gel also works well. I also agree with the 'wet towel' suggesstion.

I keep hearing that the bump fighter razor is an effective way of dealing with razor bumps. The only thing is that, in the Uk, it is impossible to get hold of this raozr! Can anyone help?

Also, I hear that th euse of glycolic acid is effective in the treatment of razor bumps. Can anyone comment on this?

This sites advice for African Americans to shave every other day to prevent razor bumps was excellent. Try shaving every other day and watch the bumps go away but first let a light beard grow so you can start of fresh. It won't work if you try and shave over bumps that are already there.

***(You already have printed this tip on your site however, when I read it instead of saying "start off" you wrote "start of". Can you correct this error, which I made when I originally sent it to you) Thank you for printing my suggestion and for solving my razor bump problem

02rifik the new paradigm for complete skin care Comments By: dman on 2008-05-17
I have a product at my disposal that we will be taking to market that will ellimanate razor bumps and acne no mater what you do. There is no need to go through any ritual or regiment to prepare your face. Use your choice of hair removal, it doesn't matter. Just mist 02rifik on after the hair has been removed. Just that simple. No pain, no stinging, works everytime on anyone. This is not an advertisement. This is the new revolution. 02rifik is a spray that you mist on. It is a topical anesthetic, anti microbial, anti bacterial. Use as much as you want, no harmful ingredients, no shelf life. It comes in a small spray atomizer (8ml or .25oz). Very simple to use. It will work on acne, shaving and most skin anomolies, like sunburn and rashes.

I have found that the product Bye BYe Razor Bump Lotion by the Nature Perfect brand works best for me, I think that the added formulation with aloe vera and green tea extract does the product a great service. For those who are interested, they canfind this product at www.natureperfectproducts.com. I would like to have some feedback as to whether you all are getting the same results as I have.

Treating and preventing shaving bumps Comments By: John Kennyson on 2011-02-21
Shaving bumps are formed when your skin reacts to the trauma of shaving. You first feel this when your face starts to itch and feel inflammed. Combine this with infection from surrounding bacteria, and the result is bumps. So to eliminate them you need to calm the inflammation, disinfect the infected area and dry out the bumps. Drying them out frees entrapped ingrown hairs so that you do not need to pull them out with infection spreading tweezers. You will find a product that will do all this at www.bumpterminator.co.uk.

To prevent bumps after shaving you need something, an anti-bumps aftershave lotion, to stop the inflammation and disinfect the skin. You will findsuch an aftershave at the same site. They even have stuff for ladies that shave their bikini line area.

I have used the products for a while now and they are fantastic.
