If you find that your trailer or caravan sockets have corroded and are giving a bad contact soak the plug in malt vinegar (acetic acid) for a few minutes and then shake or blow dry.
The acid cleans the plugs a treat.
(It is rumoured that Coca cola does the same thing, only a bit slower, and is also good for cleaning the bugs off a windscreen.)
