If you have trouble reading the telephone book then write down all the numbers you need on index cards. One card per number in large print.
Place them alphabetically in a photograph album or scrap book, have the book handy by the telephone and it will always be there and most importantly readable.
This would be a good job for your children to do when they come to visit. Remember to make a new card every time you come across a new number.
