You can speed up the time it takes to defrost your freezer by placing a bowl of hot water inside the switched off freezer and close the door. Do this a couple of times and you should have the job done in an hour.

Also If your freezer is not self defrosting then have a go at this. Soak a cloth with glycerin and wipe down the sides of the freezer. When it comes to defrost next time the ice will fall off with ease.
