Old dryers using fabric softeners

Just a word about using fabric softeners etc. Old dryers cannot use Fabric Sheets....my dryer had notice on side----I ignored it and got a horrible film on dryer and clothes...had to wash out dryer and dry it clean with white soft towel to make sure I got it all
