Stop your cat attacking your birds

It your cat tries to attack your bird, suspend the cage from the ceiling or place it on a pedestal.

Spray an aggressive cat with a plant mister. Or smack the floor next to the animal with a rolled-up newspaper.

Suspending the cage is not always feasible... Comments By: The Shadow Knows on 2004-08-31
When the cages weigh in excess of 60 lbs, it simply is not feasible to suspend a bird cage. I have parrots. Their cages are much bigger and heavier than my cockatiel's cage for example. Smacking the floor with a newspaper scares the buhjeebies out of the birds, so that doesn't work very well either. Training a cat to mind the word "NO" is about the best defense to keep them from bothering the birds. However painting the legs of a parrot cage with apple cider vinegar daily will help to keep a cat less occupied at close range and won't hurt the birds.
