After shampooing and conditioning with appropriate shampoo and conditioner for your hair type, rince hair with cold water to close the cuticals on the hair, this makes your hair lovley and shiney.

I always rinse my hair with cold water before i get out of the shower and it seems to make my hair much much shinier and smoother

Cold water will, after a while, dry out your hair. It may also give you a nasty cold if you was with cold water after a nice warm shower. Warm water is definitely the way to do.
