Ironing. Tip to prevent the shine

To remove shine from trousers or skirts, sponge the affected areas with a weak solution of ammonia (l tsp (5ml) per 1 pt (550ml) warm water). Press with warm iron using a damp cloth until perfectly dry.

Shine away Comments By: Erica on 2009-07-06 Your advice to sponge the garment with weak ammonia solution, ( a bleaching agent), my particular trousers in question are navy blue cotton, so I fear that the colour is not fast and will fade.
