Your sock is a great place to wipe your fingers instead of your pants or shirt. It will get messy, but stay hidden under your pant leg all day!
It's also a good place to put trash (gum wrappers, cigarette butts, etc.) when there's not a waste receptacle around. I don't like to litter and get embarassed when I pull trash out of my pocket instead of money at the store.
