Better shave, no razor burn

Submitted by Crystal

Before shaving, exfoliate with skin cleanser and baking soda (facial cleanser for face, or shower gel for body). If soaking in the tub, add baking soda to the water. For best results on the body (NOT face), use shower gloves to scrub. Scrub until the skin feels almost numb. I have been doing this for years, and my husband does this before shaving his face, and we never suffer razor burn or bumps!

This is fantastic for the more sensitive areas, such as face, bikini or underarms, but works great on legs, too. Also, due to the exfoliation, you will get a closer, smoother, longer lasting shave.

According to the Seventeen Magazine, shaving in itself is exfoliating.. so why do double work????

It's not double work... Comments By: anon on 2005-07-06
shaving does remove some of the top layer of skin (which is why shaving your legs will fade a suntan), but exfoliating with a scrub or loofah is more effective. it will leave your skin smoother. exfoliating before you shave also stimulates the hairs, making them stand up, which means a closer shave.

i can also make my hairs stand up just from getting them wet and turning the bathroom fan on. will that help my shave. maybe. i havent tried it and i probly wont.

This tip definitely worked for me! You should also shave along the grain of the hair and rinse your legs with cold water (it feels great!). Most people say that you should use lotion after shaving, but I have not found a single one on the market that doesn't give me razor burn.

Awesome Shaving Product Comments By: Elizabeth Jenkins on 2009-08-30
I use this product called ExfoliShave. It exfoliates while you shave. Since I started using it, I don't have razor burn and I have to shave less often (not to mention is smells awesome). I recommend it to everyone looking for a better shave on any area of the body

Vitamin E Oil after shaving - Bikini Line :) Comments By: silveroakgirl on 2009-12-17
After shaving, pat area dry and apply Vitamin E oil (a small bottle is around 3$ at the local drug store). Very healing!
