Clean silver with toothpaste
Use toothpaste and an old soft toothbrush to polish tarnished sterling. Dampen the piece of silver and brush the toothpaste on. Rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Produces a beautiful sparkling finish that lasts longer than any commercial silver polish I have used. I learned this trick from a friend whose mother is an antiques dealer.
