Candle Renovation. Make them look new again

I recently saw on a informercial a heating wand to remove the top portion of a used candle making the candle look new again. Just after I blow out my candles, I take a steak knife and slice through the candle approx. 1/4" below the flame. Someone who is resourceful could probably make a new candle with all the 'doughnuts of wax' from the cuttings.
