Getting out colors that run from clothes

If you have something that runs and gets on your other clothes wash the effected clothes again adding some automatic dishwashing liquid to the water. This is the type that goes into a dishwasher and must be the liquid or gel type. Add to water while filling. Do not apply directly to clothes (unless they are white).

This will take the unwanted color off clothes (even colored ones). If you have a stain on something white, you can apply the dishwashing detergent right to the stain rubbing in and then washing as usual. For heavy stain you can rub it in (just on white clothes) and soak in hot water for about 10 minutes before washing. Note:

This works best if used on clothes that have not yet been put in the dryer although I have used it on some things I dried and it still comes out sometimes.

Liquid Dishwash Detergent amount to be added to wash Comments By: Myra Mack on 2007-06-04
I will be trying your Dishwasher detergent tip but I need to know how much to add to a normal washload

TipKing says: I would only add the amount that you would normally add to a dishwasher for a normal cycle.

Put gel-diswasher detergent on white trim (that the red faded onto) with a tooth brush then rinsed the sweater in cold water. IT CAME OUT - THANKS for the tip.
