Removing Permanent Marker from Walls

Some vandals wrote on the walls of a rental home I had. I tried everything from sandpaper tothe magic eraser. After visiting the Dollar Store, I used The ORANGE CLEANER that was sold there to spray the walls down and wipe. IT WORKED!
