My way to clean pewter.

Submitted by Frank Alderdice

As an avid Myth & Magic pewter collector I have had the problem of trying to keep the pieces in good condition and pristine, and as everyone else I have tried various methods without any joy, so I thought I would try a few of my own and walla.

The best method I have found to clean is a bowl with some tepid water a toothbrush and some toothpaste (non bicarbonate of soda). Dip the toothbrush into the water then squeeze about 1mm out of the top of the toothpaste and scrape the toothbrush along the toothpaste to give a very thin layer of paste on the brush dip back into the water then gently clean with the toothbrush, repeat as required remembering not to put too much paste on the brush, I then have a separate bowl with clean tepid water using the toothbrush rinse the piece and dry with a soft cloth.

Your pewter should now be very clean and shiny.
