A great method to wash lace and net drapes / curtains is to fold them and rinse in clean water several times. Then put them into soapy water and squeeze well, do not wring. When clean, rinse under a tap of cold running water. Rinse again in a bowl of hot water with starch added. Squeeze gently, unfold and hang out to dry. When dry fold the drapes / curtains across (not lengthways) and iron.
