Removing white rings and marks from dark polished furniture

A furniture renovator friend of mine who renovates pub tables shewed me how to remove ring marks and stains instantly from polished surfaces.

Firstly, using a dry cloth, dampen the cloth with methylated spirit and quickly rub it over the offending marks. Now quickly ignite that area with a lighter or match and watch the marks dissapear in seconds. When the marks are gone, blow out any remaining flame and wipe the top with a clean dry cloth.

Easy!

Great tip but a warning....

My sister-in-law showed me a version of this using lemon cologne (a Turkish household staple). Works a treat but I tried it on someone else's table which I think was laminate, not real wood, and there were unvarnished patches left where the spirit burnt off!

So.... use this tip but only on your own furniture :)

Miraculous!!!

We had purchased a dining table with a little watermark on it. Then our ganddaughter put a cup of hot chocolate down and made another white mark but I ruined it completely when I put a hot casserole down on it, leaving a huge white ring. My husband found your site and I followed the instructions from TipKing using methylated spirits and matches and the stain disappeared before our eyes!!! We are thrilled to have our lovely table restored to its original glory...thank you so much!

This really works

Have just tried this tip with AMAZING RESULTS.... A few years ago, on my highly polished table, a white heat circle was made when a hot serving dish was placed directly on it.
Over the next couple of years I tried a number of different options and products to try and remove the white circle to no avail. I looked into having the table re polished but found this very expensive so I resorted to keeping the table covered with a cloth. But this morning I accidently accessed the "Tipking" website and found this tip for removing a white mark. I decided to give it a go so followed the simple instructions carefully and to my amazement, I watched as the white circle disappeared. A VERY BIG THANK YOU
