White bread in cold water for beet stains

To remove a beet stain, soak a piece of white bread in cold water and put it over the stained area. Once the bread has absorbed the stain, wash as usual.

I got beet stains on a pale blue sweatshirt I didn't have white bread but in the freezer we had a loaf misnamed Whole Wheat. It was veery pale brown andI guessed there was little or no pigmeny in
it. To help the water penetrate I put some laundry detergent on the bread and
then water. I put the bread on the fabric
and in an hour the beet stain was gone.

I like beet and had always considered the
stain irremovable.

Thank you!
