Hand lotion. Tips to remove Hand lotion stains on carpets

Hand lotion is used on more than your hands but also on your legs; back, all over your body and sometimes when you use hand lotion, it can get spilled on the carpeting. If you have a hand lotion spill or stain try these tips to get it all out. You can use these tips if the lotion is fresh or a little dried in.

Some of the lotion is going to be lying on the top of the carpeting and scraping this up will give you a head start in cleaning. Carefully scrape this up so you dont push more of the lotion into the carpet. Use a paper towel and clean off your knife and do it again if you can while you are scraping up the lotion.

Using a paper towel blot the area where you have just scraped to bring up any moisture in the carpet fabric.

To neutralize the lotion stain, use a mixture of one cup of cool water and a 1/3 cup of rubbing alcohol and spray on the stained area not making the carpeting too wet. Blot this moisture up and repeat as the lotion stain comes out.

If you dont have any rubbing alcohol, you can use one cup of water and a half-cup of distilled vinegar (clear) and spray the carpet and then blot up the moisture.

If any of the stain remains you can make a mixture of one cup of cool water and a tablespoon of dish liquid, non-bleach type. Spray this over the carpet where the lotion stain is, and blot up. Dont rub in just blot. Do this until you have brought the soap, vinegar and as much of the stain as possible.

Rinse the area with a spray of clear cool water and then blot it up. Do this two of three times to bring out any soap, stain, or vinegar left in the carpet. Do not over wet the carpet. Let the carpet dry, or at least be half dry before moving on.

If you find that you still have a stain in your carpeting, make a mixture of one cup of cool water and a half-cup of peroxide. Spraying this over the stain and blotting it up and then spraying it over the stain and letting it sit for half an hour to an hour, you will see the stain lighten even more. Repeat if you still see any lingering stains.
