Mixed drinks�. Tips to remove Mixed drinks stains on carpets

If you have found a mixed drink spill in your carpet try using these tips to get it out and without leaving a dark stained mess.

Soak up the excess liquid with a few towels or paper towels.  Dab and don�t rub the area so you don�t make the stain bigger.

Make a mixture of one cup of water and half a cup of ammonia and put this in a spray bother to use as a carpet cleaner.  The ammonia is going to neutralize the coloring so you can work it out of the fibers.  Using a clean towel, put some ammonia mixture on your cloth and dab at the area where the mixed drinks was spilled.  This will break down the liquid and it will come up on your cloth.

Keep using clean portions of your towel and dabbing until you don�t have any more mixed drinks coming up or when the stain is going.  If you don�t have any ammonia in the house at the time you can use a vinegar and water mixture instead of the ammonia and water.

Make a mixture of a cup of warm water and a tablespoon of clear (not colored) liquid soap without bleach.  Spray and dab this on the stained area lightly without pushing the stain further in the carpet.  This will work out more of the mixed drinks and your stain will lighten.  Continue this until the stain is gone or you are not bringing up any more of the dark mixed drink colors.

If you find that your stain is still not coming out, try rinsing the carpet with a spray of water and the by dabbing the moisture up, but without getting the carpeting too wet.  Continue this until you don�t bring up any more soap from the carpeting.

Stains that are deep in the carpeting can be brought up using a spray of peroxide.  Work the peroxide into your carpeting with your fingers and then blot up.  Spay the stain with peroxide again and leave this dry for at least an hour and then spray and blot again.  Continue until your mixed drinks stain is gone.
