Vacuum the area where the rust spot in on your carpet to remove any loose lint, dust and build up.

Using a spray bottle filled with lemon juice, saturate the area where the stain is located.  Work this in with your fingers to get the fibers wet all over. Let this sit for five or ten minutes.

Rinse with a spray of cool water to rinse out the lemon juice from the carpet.  Blot up with a paper towel.

If your carpet stain of rust remains, use a spray bottle of vinegar (clear distilled) and soak the rust area.  Let this site for a few minutes and then rinse using a water and clear liquid soap (without bleach) mixture.  Spray and dab the carpet to bring out additional rust and liquid soap.

If you still have rust stains on the carpeting try using a spray bottle of peroxide over the rust stain.  Spray the stain, work in with your fingers and let this dry.  Re-spray the area and blot with a paper towel, repeat as needed.

If you are still left with a rust stain on your carpeting, you will need to call on a professional carpet cleaner.  The rust contains high acid amounts and may require special chemicals to remove it.
